Title: Junior Web/Application Engineer

SUMMARY:

San Francisco-based startup seeks highly motivated Junior Web/Application Engineer to help build next generation high traffic text messaging infrastructure, applications, and web sites. We are looking for someone who is a versatile big picture thinker who can also sit down and get the job done quickly. Competitive salary and options commensurate with experience. Report to CTO. Work closely with experienced entrepreneurs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design and implement feature-rich and maintainable web sites for public access.
- Utilize DHTML, JavaScript, and CSS to produce modern friendly interfaces.
- Use AJAX and XML-RPC to integrate with internal APIs.
- Design data models and integrate with databases from web applications and related utilities.
- Create and integrate internal monitoring tools/reports.
- Contribute to and maintain code within core applications.
- Create offsite applications (e.g. on Facebook) to expand on core products.
- Create, maintain, and make available clear documentation on areas of responsibility.
- Assist with system administration and network infrastructure planning.
- Coordinate and execute periodic load testing and security audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years building web applications and associated technologies.
- Organized, good communicator, with strong hands-on technical skills.
- Team player who can self-task, schedule, prioritize, and clearly report on progress and issues.
- Linux, Apache, PHP5 OOP and MySQL database programming and optimization knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience using one or more scripting languages (Python, Perl, PHP, etc.).
- XML, REST, XML-RPC, AJAX, and similar RPC integrations with APIs.
